Fox eyes, also known as a thread brow lift, is a procedure that lifts the tail of the eyebrow with tension threads, with no incisions and no surgery. It is indicated for people whose brows are flat or who feel their eyes look droopy and tired. The effect lasts about 3 years on average and varies from person to person.

How I do it

Many patients come in thinking the problem is under-eye circles. In the consultation, I analyze the position of the brow, the eyelid skin and the shape of the eye area, and often what weighs down the expression is a flat brow with a lower tail. What looks like tiredness is usually a matter of positioning.

For these cases, my preferred procedure is tension threads, using the technique we call brow lift or fox eyes. I use long-lasting threads, known as Bulgarian threads, which lift the tail of the brow and leave the eyes looking more rested and arched. These are not PDO threads, there are no incisions, and you don't become dependent on botulinum toxin to maintain the lift.

The procedure takes less than an hour, under local anesthesia, and you can usually get back to your routine the same day. When it makes sense, I combine it with botulinum toxin at specific points. The goal is Beleza de Precisão: a lighter look, without altering your features.

What can happen

Like any medical procedure, fox eyes can have complications. Swelling, bruising, tenderness in the area and some temporary asymmetry are common in the first few days. More rarely, the thread may become palpable, create small ripples in the skin or become infected, which is why the follow-up visit after the procedure is part of the treatment. Results vary from person to person and depend on the evaluation: when there is significant excess eyelid skin, for example, a different approach may be indicated. The consultation is always the first step.

How long does the fox eyes effect last?

With the long-lasting threads I use, the effect lasts about 3 years on average. The duration varies with each patient's skin quality, age, anatomy and habits. Common absorbable threads, such as PDO, tend to last less.

What are the risks of fox eyes?

The most common are swelling, bruising, tenderness and temporary asymmetry in the first few days. Less often, the thread may become palpable, mark the skin with small ripples or become infected. That is why the evaluation, the technique and follow-up with the physician make a difference.

Does fox eyes leave a scar?
